Welcome to the on-line Club House of the Maine Golden Retriever Club
operated by Maine Golden Retrievers, Inc.
In July 2011 the Maine Secretary of State issued a charter to Maine Golden Retrievers, Inc. (MGRI) to operate throughout the State of Maine as a domestic non-profit corporation and Golden Retriever Specialty Club. In conjunction with its request to be accredited by the American Kennel Club (AKC) the AKC in January 2012 approved the name “Maine Golden Retriever Club” as the operating name of the Club. This operating name was adopted by the membership on January 22, 2012 and has been filed with and accepted by the Maine Secretary of State.
The purposes of the Maine Golden Retriever Club are listed in the MGRI corporate bylaws, some of which are to encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Golden Retrievers; to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection; to urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the AKC; to conduct AKC sanctioned events within Maine; and to promote cooperation and good sportsmanship among its members in the ownership, training and exhibition of Golden Retrievers.
Maine Golden Retriever Club has now received club name and venue approval from the AKC and is in the process of completing the final steps necessary to receive AKC accreditation. Upon AKC accreditation it is the intention of the Club to seek accreditation as a specialty club by the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA).
The club meets on a bi-monthly basis, usually on the weekend, and conducts its meetings at various locations throughout Maine. Meeting dates, times and locations are posted on this site.
Please join us if you have an interest in learning more about the Golden Retriever, its behavior, health and heredity or events which can qualify your Golden for titles awarded by the AKC or GRCA.
It’s all about Goldens, not about people!
